AFL – Week of August 11: AFLW season begins

The 2025 NAB AFL Women’s (AFLW) season is scheduled to commence in the week beginning Monday, August 11, 2025. This marks a shift to an earlier start, aligning with Round 23 of the men’s AFL Premiership season.
Season Structure:

Home and Away Rounds: The season will feature 12 rounds played over 12 weeks, eliminating the previously implemented compressed fixture.

Finals Series: Following the regular season, a four-week finals series will culminate in the Grand Final on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Pre-Season Training:
Clubs are set to commence pre-season training on Monday, May 19, 2025, providing adequate preparation time ahead of the season’s start.
This adjusted schedule aims to provide stability and ample planning time for clubs, players, and fans, addressing previous concerns related to fixture compression.
